Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to pose a question. If opportunity was standing on your doorstep, how would you go about obtaining it? Would you just go for what you know and snatch it? Or would you do your research and study it diligently?
Either way is correct.
The key to success is all about perspective: the bible says, "As a man thinketh so is he." So if you believe you can do it, you will, but if you have any doubt, you have almost assuredly guaranteed your failure. There are some people in life who have natural gifts and talents. Everything seems to come easy with little to no effort. All they have to do is show up, and they are instantly good. Then there are those who have to work longer, harder, and smarter just to be average.
So today, my job is to show you that with hard work, any goal or dream is attainable.
There's a famous quote by Tim Notke that says, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."
Too often, we look at the finished project and fail to see all the hard work and planning that goes into turning a dream into reality. Micheal Vick may have been one of the best athletes to ever grace a football field. Vick was the number one overall pick in the NFL draft. He admitted himself that early in his career, he didn't work as hard as he should've. This hurt his career causing him to never reach his true potential.
Then there is Terrell Owens, who most didn't consider extremely talented. He went to a smaller college. He once stated he never believed he'd play beyond the collegiate level. Owens was a third round draft pick who worked hard and studied under the great Jerry Rice. And when his time came, he seized the moment. A Fifteen year career, 1,078 catches,15,934 yards, and 153 TDs later earned him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This alone proves that greatness is in all of us. But to what extreme are you willing to go through to unlock your destiny?
The choice is yours!
Sometimes, being talented isn't enough to get you into the places and rooms you desire to be in. It takes countless hours of dedication and determination, with no compensation to ultimately get the vindication and validation you deserve.
When talent and hard work are combined, it is at this moment when you witness true greatness.
This is what creates Micheal Jordan, Lebron James and Kobe Bryant. The ability to harness your talents and employ a strong work ethic to constantly and consistently get better will separate the real from the fake every time. But hard work doesn't only apply to athletics it is necessary in every phase of life. Whether you want to be a lawyer, doctor, mechanic, or a plumber. Put nothing over your drive or hussle but your faith.
Now ask yourself, what are you willing to sacrifice?
Are you willing to work hard, or are you okay with being complacent? The bible says, "A man that doesn't work doesn't eat." I say,' 'If you'll work hard to get it, you'll work hard to keep it." I think we are both right, so take this information and go be great.
God bless!
